Seville Cathedral

The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See, completed in the early 16th century, is one of the largest churches in the world, the largest Gothic church. Its impressive features include a Columbus tomb and a rooftop view of Seville, following an exhausting climb.

Sevilla's Royal Alcázar

This royal palace was built in the mid 14th century for the Christian King Peter of Castile. It was constructed on the site of a Muslim fortress, which was destroyed during the Christian conquest of the city in 1248.

El Arenal & the Riverfront

The El Arenal neighborhood in the historical center of Seville, lies on the east bank of the Guadalquivir river. Enjoyed the riverwalk, Day of the Dead like sculpture and a Christopher Columbus replica.

Horse & Buggy Trek

Jorge surprised us with a walk from our hotel to a long line of waiting horse drawn carriages. Traveled through city streets, park gardens and the Plaza de Espana.

Souvenirs

Everyone has souvenir preferences. We'll skip the plastic Eiffel Towers. Kathy opted for olive oil and Kelly scored this gem at the duty free shop in the Seville airport. Flavored with the essence of the bittersweet orange trees which line the streets of Seville. Makes an interesting gin & tonic. Salud!

Postscript: Andulucia in Wisconsin

Our tour and its cuisine provided us with the inspiration and menu for a dinner group event. The host (us) establishes a theme, dishes and assigns recipes to the guests. The Dutch oven on the right features Rabo de Toro, braised oxtails we enjoyed on our first night in Cordoba.
